Preparing for NaNoWriMo 2016

My daughter told me today that she wants to do Nanowrimo again this year. I hadn’t thought about it one way or the other, even though I get the emails about Camp Nanowrimo and there have been several recently. But that offhand comment today got to me around midnight last night and I started working on turning a tiny Clairefontaine pocket notebook into a Nanowrimo planner.

I drew out a calendar of November on a sheet of pocket sized Rhodia dot pad paper and used washi tape to attach it like a hinge so that I can still write on the paper behind it.
Then I wrote out the possible plot ideas, labeled a couple pages for some character names, then made chapter outlines to fill in for 35 chapters.   Last year I “lost” because I had no idea what the hell I was gonna write about most of the time. This year I’m not leaving it to chance. I am going to have my characters fully developed and my outline ready to go before November gets here.
I’ve already decided that my main character is going to be a blogger and paper/pen addict. Social anxiety and a new neighbor can also be expected. I can’t wait to start planning. Unfortunately, I need to sleep, so I’m gonna pause here so I can add some photos tomorrow before I hit publish.
